Dark souls is perhaps one of the most difficult games I have ever played, even though it's insanely difficult the game never really goes beyond the point of "oh that was obviously my fault for the bad tactics I used" which is great because every death (and there are plenty) feels like it was your fault not the game being unfair.
Dark souls is set in a fantasy medieval/renaissance type world filled with undead soldiers, towering beasts, and a guy who praises the sun. You start out by seeing your character as a sentient undead being (called hollows) who has to fight his/her way through an undead asylum and break free into the rest of the world. After doing so you meet a very undesirable npc who tells you how to get turned back into an alive human being and what do first on your adventure.
The gameplay is fluid and really fun IF your playing on console or have an xbox controller you can use on your pc otherwise the game is a mess if you try playing with a keyboard due to poorly mapped controls. An interesting feauture of the game is when you get your humanity back (become an alive human) players can either be summoned into your world or invade it. If summoned the other player helps you in your quest and is rewarded with gear or souls (the currency and way you level up is through using souls collected from enemies you kill) and if they invade your world they find there way to you and you are forced to duel with them until either you or they die.
the game isn't the greatest visually but that is fixed by a semi active modding community on the pc which has released mods that completely re-texture the game making it look far more beautiful and immersive than before.
I give dark souls an 8/10 it's definitely worth buying and will provide 100's of hours worth of gameplay (no joke this game is huge)

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is a comedic blast from the past. The game is stylized like an 80's science fiction straight to vhs movie complete with the loading screen looking like scan lines from a t.v. Everything is lined with neon lights and all the weapons eventually shoot lasers!
You play as Rex Power Colt (voiced by Michael Biehn) A cyber enhanced soldier (complete with robotic arms and bionic eye) who's mission is to disable a nuke on an island inhabited by cyborgs led by his ex mentor turned evil. This game was made by ubisoft a while after Far Cry 3 was released, although they share the same name they are in no way related story wise.
This game was a laugh a minute from purposely low quality cutscenes to using a hand grip (pictured left) to restore health Blood dragon was a goofy experience from start to finish.
The game play was virtually identical to Far Cry 3 which means it was easy to learn fun to play and had smart enemy ai that would use battle tactics more advanced than just "stand still and shoot" with the only differences in the game being you run faster jump higher and take no fall damage. The game gets the name Blood Dragon from the gigantic komodo dragon like creatures that the inhabitants of the islands call Blood Dragons due to their thirst of blood robotic or human. The player distracts these monstrous beast by throwing cyborg hearts the player pillages from dead body's at them, this allows the player time to run from it or get ready to fight it.
I give FC3:BD a 7/10 it was a fun game but a very short experience with a normal play through of the game capable of being only 6 hours long

Warface review
(first off sorry for not posting more frequently)
Warface is a free to play first person shooter made by crytek (they made the crysis series) built on a modified cryengine 3 game engine. The game was released in Russia around 2010 and closed beta began 2011 in the U.S. and a console port for the xbox 360 coming in 2014. For about 1.5 years the us version has been in development and then a very exclusive closed beta period. I would have reviewed this game earlier (I was in closed beta) but I wanted to wait until the game went public (it's currently in public beta so the game is still a work in progress)
The plot to Warface is that after a huge economic crisis a military power known as blackwood owns a majority of the worlds wealth which they protect with a massive amount of soldiers, tanks, choppers and mechs. Warface comes in to stop these corrupt beings from ruling the world by utilizing a small but highly trained amount of soldiers to slowly tear apart the blackwood corporation little by little.
Usually when you hear a game is free to play you think its just another crappy half assed game that's not fun and only gets fun when you put money into it to get unfair advantages over other players, this is not the case for warface! The graphics of this game are on par to most paid videogames I have seen, a majority of the weapons and gear in this game can be obtained simply by earning the in-game currency and the game is ever growing with new co-op and versus maps and gametypes. The game runs over about 115 fps on medium quality for my computer but has the option to lower them to the point where even a low grade laptop could manage playing the game.
While you have your standard game modes like team deathmatch, capture the flag and free for all Warface really wants players to focus on teamwork in the co-op mode. In co-op you play as a small group of Warface soldiers as you fight blackwood troops across the world in varied locations for the assets they supply. The ideal way to play this is with a balanced team with each player being one of the four classes. (the assault, engineer, medic or sniper) They force you to rely on teammates by making parts of the game only accesible through buddy boosting each other over walls or having to help a teammate up after they were knocked to the ground. ( along with resupplying ammunition medical treatment and fixing armor) Unlike many games where the co-op aspect seems to be more of a gimmick the co-op in warface is a fun experience to have with friends you know or by making new ones through playing the game.
Two things unique to warface that I thought were very interesting was the on the fly weapon customization, this lets players re adapt their weapon to different situations by attaching and removing scopes, silencers, grips and other things which really helps in certain situations. The way you obtain these attachments is through warfaces unlock system. New weapons, items, and attachments can be obtained simply by playing the game enough, there are three categories when the bar is filled from earning enough points in the weapon, item or attachment category you are awarded whatever was displayed in the box permanently (this is to my knowledge I do not know if some items are only semi permanent)
I give warface public beta a 9.5/10 there really isn't much more you can ask for in a free game that warface has not done yet or is planning to do upon the finalized version

the ship review
The ship is a first person murder mystery like multiplayer game built on the source engine. The plot is as follows. A large group of passengers have been invited onto a free cruise invited by a mysterious man called mr.x. Once far off shore Mr.X tells the passengers that in order to get back to civilization they have to murder a different assigned passengers and are awarded money for each successful murder.
The gameplay is very simple. It plays like half-life with an inventory system and needs. by needs i mean that your character has needs that have to be maintained, like using the bathroom, eating, sleeping, and social interaction. This adds a sims like quality to the game that I think is just for filler because it's usually just plain annoying. Having to worry about avoiding getting murdered while trying to murder your target keeps you on your toes and makes you think on how to avoid looking suspicious to hide from your pursuer.
(there is also a singleplayer mode with a fairly good storyline to it.)
I would highly recommend getting this game as it is inexpensive and very fun for killing time

Bioshock review
Bioshock is a first person shoot that has received numerous awards for its ingenious plot and addictive gameplay. The year is 1960 you are a man named Jack who's origins are unknown. The opening cinematic shows you looking through his point of view at a gift in your lap while the first words play "They told me. Son your special, you were born to do great things. you know what? They were right." just as that finishes the plane goes down for unkown reasons. you decend into the ocean below watching the wreckage sink and almost getting sliced up by a propeller. As you reach the surface you are surrounded by the flaming wreckage of the plane and you start to swim towards a light house in the distance beginning your journey to rapture the underwater city where normal laws don't apply.
Rapture was made by Andrew Ryan who believed in a communist type of living where man should work for what he gets and no more or less. He also believed in scientific freedom and created rapture for those who wanted to do things such as the more frowned upon parts of genetic engineering. This led to the discovery of adam and then plasmids. Adam is described as a raw form of stem cells that when introduced into the body would find and replace stable cells with the unstable adam ones. Plasmids are serums made from adam that when introduced to the body re writes your genetic code allowing you to do amazing things such as shoot lightning out of your fingertips or gain the power to use mind control. This used EVE which is a modified version of ADAM used to fuel the plasmids and is like plasmids injected into the blood stream through a needle.
The use of ADAM did come with side effects as seen on the common enemy in rapture called splicers. Splicers get there name from splicing their genes with too much adam eventually causing them to become horridly disfigured and lose their humanity, the only thing that gets them through each day is killing anything that moves and harvesting it's ADAM.
The gameplay holds up very well seeing as the game came out in 2007. The controls are very weird at first but you get used to them quite fast. The ominous atmosphere has you ever on your toes and a new creepy scene or shady looking dimly light room awaits you around every corner.

Battlefield 4 Beta
As of yesterday anyone who is a Battlefield 3 premium member or purchased a copy of battlefield 4 you got access to the beta. The bf4 beta features one map called Siege of Shanghai, where you battle through the streets of shanghai. This map was famous in their reveal trailer for a skyscraper that if it took enough damage would collapse and the skyscraper was replaced with a piles of rubble and hazy dust clouds.
What I like about Bf4 is the variability not only in the maps which would have things like multistory building access through elevators and being able to raise roadblocks on bridges as a foot soldier to block out tank and trucks from accessing the area until the enemy can overcome you and lower the blocks. The other variability is in the soldier and weapon customization. You are able to customize your soldiers camo (though its only cosmetic) to a large variable of parts to attach to your weapon from sights to barrel attachments and weapon grips.
The game play isn't much different from battlefield 3 but I feel like using a sniper rifle was easier but this may have been due to zeroing in the sniper rifles (zeroing in a sniper allows the scope to be adjusted to the range of what your aiming at so you don't have to account for bullet drop as much) the other classes assault, engineer, and support all have unique parts to their classes. Assault manly uses battle rifles and carbines with the gear being med kits and explosive devices. The engineer mainly uses pdw's (personal defence weapons) and has gear usually being vehicle repair tools or launched explosives (rocket launchers and such). And support uses light machine guns, varied explosives and ammo resupply boxes. And finally snipers use sniper rifles mainly (kind of obvious) and varied enemy detection devices (such as a hand thrown movement sensor) and hand explosives (i.e. c4)
overall i rate bf4 beta (keep in mind its not the full version of the game) a 7.8/10

Kirbys Nightmare in Dreamland review
I have always been very fond of Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland because it's one of the games I most remember playing when I was younger. The games plot is as follows. Kirby is sleeping when he realizes he isn't having any dreams so he ventures to the fountain of dreams which supplies all the dreams for the people in dream land. (the area Kirby lives in this game is called dream land) When he arrives Kirby is shocked to find king Dedede (one of the main villains/friends of Kirby) bathing in the fountain of dreams, and while doing so he broke the star rod which supplies power to the fountain which in turn supplies dreams. Kirby defeats him but before he can but the star rod back nightmares appear and steal the fountain and the rod, and now Kirby must venture off to save the fountain and star rod.
The gameplay is simple (mostly because there was only a d-pad and a and b buttons) you travelled through a few worlds each with a different theme (woods, ocean, mountain etc) each of the worlds have a few levels and then a boss level which again was themed to the world. (the boss of the woods world is a giant angry tree) until you finally made it to the last level and then eventually complete the game.
While at a young age you don't see much wrong with it a lot of Kirby universe can seem a little weird at times. Some people on the internet even go as far to say Kirby the cute squishy pink hero of the game is a xenophobe (someone with irrational fear or hate of people who look or act differently than themselves) because of his literally eating and killing every single creature that crosses his path (some of the enemies in the game don't even attack Kirby on purpose)
The game is actually a remake of a Nintendo Entertainment System game called Kirby's adventure. The only differences being a 32-bit game instead of 8-bit the color palate, some enemies being changed, and now when Kirby absorbed an enemy's power he got a little hat and sometimes a color change to represent the power (I.E. when he swallows a flaming enemy he gets a little redder and has a crown with fire coming out of it on his head)
(fun fact on all american Kirby games the boxart shows Kirby looking angry or frowning while in japan all the boxart shows him smiling and looking happy)
here are some pictures of the game in action:

payday 2 the continuation of a bank robbery game
A few years back a game called payday the heist was released by overkill software a slightly indie studio, shortly followed by an immediate cult following to the game. The reason being its uniqueness this game had one objective and that was to rob whatever place you were in of all its valuable. Now a few years later the sequel came out and with a multitude of improvements.
The four characters of the game are Dallas: a patriotic mobster like person who belives his ways as a robber is just another way to make money rather than criminal acts, Hoxton: The original hoxton was a short tempered young british man but for unknown reasons is mia in this game and is replaced with a rather lame sounding american man who is dallas' brother, next is chains at a younger age he could never stay out of trouble and at an older age was kicked from the marines due to his violent ways and was eventually hired by a criminal group leading to his joining of the payday gang. And finally wolf, wolf used to be a regular man he lived in sweden and owned a computer software company but after his company went bankrupt and his family left him wolf went insane and acted out robberies and other things of violence that he had seen in movies eventually leading to his realization that he liked that way of life.
Payday 2 starts off with you master planner (who calls himself Bain) welcomes you back from your vacation saying your "services" are needed once again and after getting your starting kit and a short but to the point tutorial you thrown into the game. The mission browser is stylized as a special network for criminals called crime.net and its here where you will select the heist you will take part in. After getting into a game or making one you wait a bit to have the game filled with other players and then once started you are taken to a briefing screen where you will get info on the heist its here that you also select your weapon and equipment to take along. The missions vary from a 1 day bank heist to (the longest ones so far only reaching 3 days days being individual missions inside the mission) and dealing with money and jewelry to making meth and transporting cocaine and even stealing paintings.
while the first game was an amazing work of art it was lacking a very major component, customization. The game had variablility in the placement of cameras, workers, guards, etc but there was no customization, this has definitely been fixed in payday2. To start there are about a dozen primary and a dozen secondary weapons each with weapon part customizations from sights to barrel extensions all of them show up as a unique model on the weapon in game too.And they also added mask customization to the game as well, now you can collect masks and customize their looks with materials patterns and colors which can lead to some very creative masks! all unlocks are aquired through a literal pick a card system at the end of each heist where longer and more difficult heist reward you with a rarer bounty than an easy short mission.
The gameplay is very tight the controls are very convenient and can be remapped to your liking if wanted. The enemies (fbi, swat, gang members, etc) come in waves with breathing time to secure loot heal yourself and scavenge for ammo between each wave. sometimes the ai is a little brain dead on easier missions but on the more difficult ones they seem to work fine (this will hopefully be improved on in a future update) Along with all of this the game is accompanied by the musical works of simon viklund who made the soundtrack for both of the payday games (and both soundtracks are definitely worth listening to!)
overall I would give payday 2 a 7.8/10 its a great game but it needs to improve a few things before it can truly reach its full potential.

just cause 2 multiplayer mod a chaotic calamity filled cluster f**k
The game is called just cause 2, its a highly addictive and fun free roaming third person shooting game with a high modability factor (meaning plenty of user made content for the game) in this case a very special mod indeed. Introducing just cause 2 multiplayer mod possibly one of the funnest and funniest things I have ever played! The original game just cause 2 was made as a single player only title with no online capabilities but thanks to a group of amazing people all that and more has been changed! After going through a simple setup and naming you character you get thrown into the just cause 2 world, except this time there are up to 5000 other people doing the same thing you are which is driving, flying, and blowing s**t up. The mod is still in beta but has a planned full release in this month or early october so as of currently the only way to play is to wait for a beta test (one is currently happening and ends this friday) while the game can be played by yourself its just not as fun without calling a friend on skype and flying a boat across a mountain range together (yes you read that right). which brings me to the next thing the modifiers in the game, by typing /boost into the chat box you get the option to adjust the speed of your boost, if maxed out you can pretty much fly anything i.e. cars over oceans) and also makes for some hilarious looking moments. The game also has activities constantly happening like races demolition derbys and deathmatches all of which will award you in game cash for completing them (money is also awarded for killing other players but only a small amount) this money can then be used to buy specific weapons, vehicles and player models for you to use. While the mod is great fun it has its fair share of problems the main one being random crashes. Just yesterday I was playing the game with a friend of mine and combined together the game crashed on us say 8-9 times and we played for about an hour and a half. Hopefully this annoyance will e fixed with full release and if not... it's still one of the best things I ever played below is a link to the mods website and some screenshots

Battlefield 3 a team based multiplayer experience
Anyway battlefield 3 is the most recently fully released battlefield game in the ongoing series. The campaign story has you following Henry Blackburn a sergeant in the marine corps who is under interrogation about 2 missing nuclear missiles that was found in a mission he was on. The game play is nothing new but it is still executed in a very good way so the game feels smooth and the controls are easy to learn. The campaign was gripping and intense at some points, but at others a little frustrating.
The other game modes are co-op which has you and a friend defending objectives piloting choppers and being a part of a tank unit (vehicle sections usually have one person piloting and another utilizing some kind of gun. To encourage players to play co-op it has exclusive unlocks in the form of weapons that can be used in the competitive multiplayer.
Multiplayer has your average game modes (i.e. control points team death match capture the flag etc) but they are all very fun and addictive to play. control points (called conquest) has two teams (always Russians and united states) fighting of the ownership of 3 to 6 control points, team death match is basically what it sounds like its two teams fighting to wipe out the enemy team first and capture the flag (do i really need to explain this one?) the game while fun seemed a little lacking in its base form where it felt like the amount of maps to play on were a little on the short side and some maps felt too similar to be considered different to me. (there are 5 downloadable content packs which I will do reviews on soon) overall I give the game an 8/10 and highly recommend giving it a try especially since you can pick it up for a cheap price nowadays.

War.Inc Battle Zone review a horridly broken dead and wasted potential game
So if you haven gathered from the title the game i'm reviewing today is total crap. It's buggy no one plays it anymore and the character animation is so choppy that sometimes when you run you literally look like your just standing in place while moving. And ignoring all of the glitches in this game if you ever want to stand a chance against other players you need to spend a boatload of money to get any gear that can sufficiently protect you from any sort of fire fight making it unfair for those who just want to play a game for free. However it does have it's moments where eventually you find a server with players and are able to join and its not filled with people who have dropped $300 in the game and it's actually playable. The game is a free to play and can be downloaded (be warned about doing so) from their website http://www.thewarinc.com/ or downloaded on the steam game client http://store.steampowered.com/

Team Fortress 2 review
First off yes my blog was originally a minecraft blog and i may occasionally do a texture pack or mod review but i will mainly focus on games and gaming devices. So to start off I thought that tf2 was a good choice. Tf2 is a free to play team based shooting game developed by valve. This game is primarily a pc game but is featured in the orange box collection on consoles in a limited form (you cant find any items or play custom made maps. However the pc version is quite different, the game does not require an amazing computer to run and is not pay to win. But by purchasing anything from the online store you get a premium account ( premium accounts allow you to have a more open trading system find better items and much more) Now this game has had varied reviews the majority love it but then you will get someone who expects it to be something like call of duty or some other crap game and then get angry when it isn't and claim it to be the worst game ever. But to most people its more fun then most paid games out there. The game has 9 classes with three categories of offense, defense and support in offense there is Scout who is the fastest class and carries a scattergun, the soldier who is on the slower side but his primary weapon is a rocket launcher and the pyro who everything about is unknown except that it is a complete psycho path it uses a flamethrower as a primary onto the defense there is demoman who uses explosive weapons and empty scotch bottles to fight, then the heavy who uses his fists and a minigun and finally the engineer who's main job is to build sentry turrets dispensers and teleporters to assist the team. And last but not the least the support class featuring the medic (pretty self explanatory) he uses a syringe gun to fight and a medi gun to heal team mates then theres the sniper (also self explanatory) and finally the spy he his uniqueness comes from his ability to disguise as the enemy teams turn invisible and stab enemy's in the back to basically humiliate them. Also before i finish up one of the things that make this game great is the humorous dialogue the characters constantly say as an example sometimes when a scout if you kill a sniper he says "it was mercy killing you... you live in a camper van!" or as a sniper sometimes he says "here's a touching story once upon a time you died and i lived happily ever after" here is a link to the wiki and some screenshots

Transportable land mod
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that may or can go wrong while an attempt to install this mod
So before I don't have a computer to get my own screenshots because the laptop i recently got had factory defects and needed to be sent back, I should have the replacement shortly.
Today's is one that greatly interests me because the idea of it is to place a block that copys a certain area of land and then deletes whats there, and then later you can place the block again and put the copy of whatever you copied back down again like this
This is great so you don't have to remember where your base is all you have to do is place a block copy and then walk away, then later just replace the same block and then later when it gets dark just place the block walk inside your house and sleep away. I may revisit this mod when i get my replacement computer until then I can only hope

minecraft dr who mod
so today's mod isn't actually available yet and has been delayed for a long time but I was introduced to it from a friend and we plan on doing a video review of it. Basically this mod turns the entire game into your own Dr. who story, you get to travel from world to world on the tardis fight familiar enemies and greet familiar friends from the show. I have tried to see if there was any recent work on this and found mixed comments that it was still being made and others said it was dead hopefully its released soon. Here's a link to check it out yourself.

first gaming impressions of my y400
Sorry that this wasnt included in the last post but first I had to download all of my games. Now that I have all of them (or most at least) I can give my impression on how this laptop performs. The first game I played was one that my old laptop could only handle the lowest graphical setting, this thing on the other hand played the highest setting and the y400 handled it like it was absolutely nothing. At this point I was extremely excited to try it out with more intensive games. The most intensive game i have played so far was arma3 and the laptop could even run that with only the most minimal amount of lag so all in all the laptop was a really good deal for what I got and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to get a good deal on a great gaming build

Lenovo Y400 laptop review
So I finally got my new laptop and a lot earlier than expected, this is going to be a small review of it and my next blog post will be a gaming performance review. So my first impression of it was... powerful, everything about the system looks intimidatingly strong from the bright red back light keys to the carbon fiber style shell everything looks like a true gaming computer. The laptop also features an ultrabay, ultrabays is a customizable slot in the right side of the computer. Initially there is a standard dvd drive (not bluray unfortunately that can be swapped for another fan or graphics card. The boot-up time is a little slow but not painstakingly slow and windows 8 is nice but confusing. One thing that was very annoying was all the bloatware preinstalled onto this thing, there are piles upon piles of crap I needed to delete from the y400 before i had to go through tons of updates and downloading all the applications I wanted to have on it, but it was well worth the wait because i'm just waiting for the game i'm downloading to finish so I can see this thing on high performance mode

The zone texture pack review
Sorry in advance but today's blog an next 1-2 others may not be that good because I recently sold my computer and bought a new one and its on its way so I have to use my phone which is pretty hard and I can't take my own pictures of the texture pack or mod. However I will be doing a review on my new laptop when I recive it. (a lenovo y400!) Anyhow today's texture pack is called the the zone and has a very fall type of look with its golden and brown leaves and darker slightly dead looking grasses. It looks very cinematic to me and I imagine looks very ominous and foreboding when the sun is setting. Looking at the sample photo it reminds me of the walking dead a little bit, but it's mostly in the way the buildings look and the grasses

Single player commands be the god of your world not just a player
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong with your computer while installing or using this mod
Have you ever been playing minecraft and just wanted to spawn 100 creepers just to see what would happen? Well with single player commands that's exactly what you can do and more! Single player commands is a user created fun menu (a developers console that isn't for programming) That can be used to become invincible spawn mobs or pretty much anything you want. The multiplayer version of this mod is good for someone who wants to start a server that's in survival mode so they could still build all the structures they want without it being creative mode. And this version (single player only) is good for just messing around while you're bored or so you can fufill your dream of fighting off hoards of creepers and zombies and then return to your 100 story bedrock mansion with diamond tiling and feed your 20 tamed wolves and do the same thing again the next day

S.T.A.L.K.E.R inspired texture pack
Hi sorry for not posting lately, today's texture is based off of an atmospheric and eerie pc shooter called stalker call of pripyat. This is one of the texture packs that is very intensive and will require a stronger build to run smoothly but is well worth it seeing as how amazing it looks. The setting is a post apocalyptic world where things that were once humans and other animals have mutated into vicious and disgusting creatures and this texture pack did a very good job of conveying the creepiness of the game. Most of the creatures even friendly mobs (pigs, cows) have been textured to look like the mutated creatures. one of the weird things about this texture pack is that sticks look like ak-47 rifles and chicken eggs look like hand grenades. This is a great texture pack for a survival roleplay server because the way everything looks pics and link below
